In recent years, Milan has got a unique and original new skyline, where history and modernity are mixed. [...] I like silhouettes, shadows, simple but immediately recognizable figures, I like "urban wandering" [...] as a design expert, after so many years I have come up with this evocative idea of the city, the lights, the street lamps lit... From a creation by Alessandro Giust, Terenzi Srl realizes Skylight which, starting from a metal plate, obtains the shape of Milan, making it easy to recognize what accompanies our city view.
The first Milanese skyscrapers dated back to 1923, followed by the Velasca Tower in 1958. The Milan Skyline is a historical question: in 1960 the Pirelli Skyscraper was built after a project by Giò Ponti; it was called “Il Pirellone” by the Milanese, emblem of the economic boom. In 1994 it was the turn of the two FS (State Railways) Towers. The real revolution was after 2010: Palazzo Lombardia ("Lombardy Palace") was completed. The Porta Nuova project therefore gave Milan a true metropolis skyline, with the UniCredit Tower and then the Solaria Tower, the tallest residential building in Italy. The Vertical Forest and the Diamond Tower, the tallest steel building in Italy, were also part of the project. At the same time the CityLife district rose, which had planned three skyscrapers, iconic as a whole: the famous Allianz Tower, Generali Tower and Libeskind Tower.
Skylight is a luminous object, which creates an intimate and comfortable atmosphere. Buildings such as the Duomo, the Arco della Pace wanted to greet Napoleon, the Castello of the Sforza Family and the new symbols of modernity are placed side by side in an ensemble that is harmonious and strikes the emotions.
The LED light is powered via the USB input: as if Skylight's lighting were to revive a historical period, that of Covid-19, which turned off the spotlight on our city and our lives, hitting Lombardy and Milan even more than other regions and capitals. Skylight's feature is also that of illuminating the heterogeneous architecture of Milan, hinging on its dynamism, dismantling that air of coldness as a commonplace. That is, to enhance the proactive character of the city and its architecture which preserves different styles and different eras within it, making them coexist.
Technology and millimeter precision allow to realize ideas that originate from a sketch… starting from a metal plate the outline of the city of Milan is obtained.
For the procedure for getting the shape, Terenzi Production follows the traditional steps of laser cutting and bending: attention and cure to detail during each phase are guaranteed by the Quality control.
