HISTORY

1,869 Bright Flowers, a majestic Eagle, a Pomegranate tree: these are the elements that have made one of the greatest successes at Expo Milano 2015. From a concept developed by Studio Voltaire, after a request of Simmetrico, contractor and direct contact with the Authorities of the former Soviet Republic, with the fundamental collaboration of Habits, the key role of Terenzi Srl emerges in shaping the idea.

FEATURES

We have contributed to the creation of an architectural environment with elements, that are not exclusively scenographic, but they are the real protagonists of the Azeri pavilion. The Flowers of innumerable colors, 60 and 78 cm high, hide, besides the marvelous aesthetics, a sophisticated technology. We have designed an electronics with the best performances in terms of light quantity and diffusion. The light source, composed of 24 diodes assembled on kapton, remains stable with operating temperatures well below the critical thresholds, as it is wrapped on an aluminum heatsink, obtained with a specially designed micro-extrusion. The robotized Eagle consists of 54 independent elements, that light up thanks to RGB LEDs. We have designed the electrification, given by colored lights that change, according to a computerized control. The Pomegranate was illuminated in the trunk by extruded profiles in which RGB LEDs, controlled individually by a DMX control unit, were inserted.

THE TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS

This custom order was prepared smoothly and it did not have any negative impact on the parallel serial production planning, which had to be carried out for other clients. At the base of the achievement of the goals, the unfailing experience and the prototypes realized in order to evaluate the characteristics of the product. The project Bright Flowers was complex and complete, it has involved all the specializations, where we have competence. We have started from the study and the engineering of the product, adding a part of automation, necessary for the final installation. The carried out activities have been: the finalization of product design, equipment design, choice of molding materials, analysis and refinement of the aesthetic finish (painting) and study of the design of the lighting part. The compliance with delivery times was one of the objectives, as well as the achievement of results. The planning of the productive activity, the progress of the working phases, the instruction and the monitoring of the assembly up to the phases, regarding the final logistics, have been all the aspects of the order, that we have managed in line with the client's request.
