Davide Medri is a creative who deals with Interior design with an emotional focus on light: for him TERENZI SRL in 2009 engineered and produced two "luminous sculptures", Freedom Floor Lamp and Piercing Wall Lamp, which can also have a lamp function. Artist, Medri deals with furniture in mirror mosaics, with craftsmanship and a design laboratory in Cesena. The design of these two luminous elements is specifically by Bruno Rainaldi.
Freedom, which can also be described as a "light chain", is covered with pieces of sharp mirrored glass one by one and positioned manually. There is also the possibility to choose the number of units and the colour. The creation of each piece moves according to the art linked to the mosaic developed in Ravenna. Freedom can be composed of an indefinite number of pieces, if desired: it can be fixed to the wall, as well as to the ground.
The light sources are set in a band on the inside of each element, 24 LEDs per ring. Piercing is applique, with a design that recalls the shape from which it takes its name. Internally it gives off warm white light; each piece is handmade, also in this case following the Ravenna mosaic inspiration. It is externally available in both silver and gold finishes.
For this process, TERENZI supplies the polycarbonate shell, a type of very valuable plastic, with excellent optical characteristics as well as transparency and mechanical resistance. The coating with rings decorated with glass mosaic is then performed by Davide Medri. The body is made up of 4 pieces, plus 2 screens: everything is obtained by injection molding using a multi-impression mold designed and manufactured by our tool shop; the molded components then pass to the assembly department which assembles them.
Piercing is conceptually similar to Freedom; this luminous sculpture is also in polycarbonate. TERENZI has here developed a wall hooking system that consists of laser-cut and bent stainless steel plates; one of these mounted on a Piercing, the other on the wall.
