A "dreamlike" work for lighting, Drago Light, halfway between Design and Haute Couture, fields that have always been of great interest to its creator, Maurizio Galante, who dedicated himself precisely to drawing; engineering, assembly, cutting were conceived and performed by TERENZI SRL.
Drago Light is a dress, a fabric, which was made-to-measure the light bulb. The inspiration conceptually comes from a trend that will then be taken up in a renewed version of the same Drago Light, i.e. Shadow Light, presented at the 2023 Fuorisalone.
This magical and delicate fashion-inspired ornament was created using laser technology. The thin sheets of golden aluminum - in gold-colored anodized aluminum - give rise to a lampshade that becomes a precious dress. The light point is movable, it can be placed on a surface or hung as a pendant.
The composite laminates create a three-dimensional decoration, the light from the bulb and from the environment is reflected and diffused on the metal and generates warm sparkling and golden reflections. Drago Light creates a unique atmosphere. The product requires self-assembly and, with this in mind, the final packaging is prepared.
The 17 ribs arranged as spokes, hinged to an upper ring which is also the load-bearing element for the posting, provide for a break that acts as a joint for another central ring which strengthens the frame and blocks all the vertical elements. It thus guarantees structural integrity, but at the same time a simple and functional design, conceptually similar to that typical of paper lanterns. The two rings are both parallel and a final transparent o-ring gives the object a spherical shape. The object has a diameter of about 12 cm. The assembly, in which mechanical interventions have been reduced as much as possible, is entrusted to the user.
