HISTORY

The first product produced by Terenzi Srl for Luceplan was Orchestra, designed by A. Meda and P. Rizzatto in '95. Luceplan involved Terenzi in a new project that is also a new challenge: to create methacrylate blades, with different colors and difficult geometries, Blow, a fan and a pendant lamp, a perfect dialogue of light, color and moving matter.

FEATURES

The plastic material, that has aesthetic characteristics very similar to those of the crystal, must be perfectly transparent, free of distortions or defects that would inevitably be amplified by the light source.

THE TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS

After several analyses, we decided that the best method to make the mold is the one, which allows us to obtain the figure in a single matrix (to be built monolithically without using dowels) and to minimize the extractors, in order to avoid joint lines on the piece. After the molding phase, we foresaw a conformer with controlled cooling. Finally, given the large injection surface, necessary for the molding of methacrylate, we study a cutting station, with circular saw and subsequent polishing of the worked area. Thanks to the idea of controlled cooling, we are able to develop a method capable of producing on industrial scale methacrylate blades, injection molded, transparent and shiny like crystal. A perfect dialogue of light, color and moving matter.
